Illuminating Conversations creator and host Beth Foster is having the light shine on her.

Now also a co-producer, she’s been working behind the scenes for nine years and for her commitment, Talk Is Free Theatre honoured her with the J.F. Anderson Award, which recognizes an individual who, through a variety of activities, has made a significant, sustained contribution to the company.

“Her enthusiasm and energy were contagious and made both (TIFT artistic producer) Arkday (Spivak) and me feel optimistic about the job ahead. She did join the board and jumped in with both feet,” said Joe Anderson, former Advance publisher and TIFT”s founding chairperson.

“In fact, she served the maximum sentence of three terms — nine years. She tirelessly advocated on behalf of Talk Is Free Theatre in the broader community and especially among fellow educators and students. She took on the role of youth and education liaison on our board and help shape our Small Talk initiative.”

Anderson noted Foster and her husband, Robin, put their money where their mouths are by being subscribers, donors and ambassadors. They also became inaugural members of the theatre’s Producer’s Circle in 2009.

Previous recipients include Aline Revoy, Steve Sperling and Bernetta Starkey.
