International Artist Carleigh Aikins returns home for one performance only.

Carleigh Aikins returns home on Sunday, January 8 to host the revival of 2013’s smash success Soundtracks: A Retrospective Guide to Travel; a production that was produced at the Mady for two sold out evenings. It featured stories and songs by Artists that Aikins worked with as a touring vocalist across two continents; and featured performances of these songs by Barrie’s finest collection of musicians as curated by Aikins herself.

Carleigh began her career as a performer on the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. After she produced the original Soundtracks, she had shared stages with the likes of Jack Johnson, Robert Plant, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, City & Colour and made appearances on world stages such as the Ryman Auditorium, Royal Albert Hall, Massey Hall, Conan O’Brien and The Colbert Report, all as a vocalist for the band Bahamas. Since then she’s independently worked with countless Artists such as Macy Grey, The Head and the Heart, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Infamous Stringdusters & Nicki Bluhm, Shakey Graves, Donovan Woods, Royal Wood, Hannah Georgas and The Weather Station, to name a very few.

Before all of this, Aikins worked with Talk Is Free Theatre for many years. She has appeared in many productions including Oliver, Moliere and Bye Bye Birdie but has also served as Designer and Crew for many hit productions, all while serving as TIFT Director of Education. Now, she returns home to revive Soundtracks for one night only; bringing together the original cast who return under a different format. The evening will see Aikins joining forces with Brett Caswell- the duo (who have been a favourite of Barrie crowds for over a decade as they’ve collaborated as songwriters, performers and friends) will serve as Hosts and Musical Directors. The participating Artists will submit their songs, be randomly assembled in to musical groups and assigned one of the selections to be learned, rehearsed and performed at the Mady- all within 24 hours.

In the spirit of the successful run of TIFT’s 24 Hour Plays of past seasons, the audience will hear renditions of new songs by local Artists, as performed by their peers in this collaborative, spontaneous and quite possibly chaotic and exhausting process.

Soundtracks II features members of Paper Bird, The Marquee Rose, Indian Handcrafts, Zeus, Stonetrotter, House Art Collective, Ruby, RIP Nancies, The Morals, Dave Thompson, Evangeline Gentle and more…

The performance will be on Sunday January 8th, 2017 at 7pm at the Park Place Theatre at The Mady, 1 Dunlop Street West in Barrie.

Tickets are $25 and may be booked by calling TIFT Box Office at: (705) 792-1949. (705) 739-4228,, or in person at the Mady Centre for the Arts.
