For 35 years Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers have been touring Canada, splashing their unique taste of Newfoundland through more than 360 communities as far flung as Port Hardy, Iqualuit, Leading Tickles and Toronto. The flavor of the Buddy experience is one of home grown folk music, songs and music. With poignant recitations, sublime song portraiture, beautiful traditional music and emotional travel anecdotes, liberally dosed with zany sketches and monologues to widen the emotional loop, their audiences are left teary eyed and simultaneously exhausted from laughter. all in the best 2 hours you’ll ever spend
Ed Asner is primarily know for his role as Lou Grant during the 1970s and early 1980s, on both the Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff series Lou Grant. His appearance in Barrie will be his only Canadian engagement. A Man and His Prostate is based on true life experience, in which a man discovers his inner self in more ways than one. A near tragedy is masterfully transformed into comedy, perfectly portrayed by Ed Asner in his hilarious visit to the hospital in preparation for surgery he doesn’t want.
Broadway in Barrie! A former 90s pop-star and a professional queer immigrant improvise their way through an evening of musical theatre! No rehearsals no scripts, a few select props and potentially no idea what the shows about. The local legend Glenn Coulson and the local myth Izad Etemadi will provide an evening filled with belting, jazz hands and belly laughs. This is sure to be the train wreck of the season.
Rick Mercer will chronicle, satirize and ultimately celebrate all that is great and irreverent about this country. known as “Canada’s Unofficial Opposition,” Mercer is our most popular comic, a political satirist who knows exactly what matters to regular Canadians and what makes them laugh.
